PEOPLE OF JAVA
Camera: NIKONOS V Film: KODAK EKTACHROME 100 location: YOGYAKARTA Country: INDONESIA
The heart of Indonesia, Java, pulses with culture and history captured through the lens of my Nikonos V loaded with Kodak Ektachrome 100 film. Immersed in Yogyakarta, known affectionately as Jogja, these photographs depict its chaos of traffic, scents of warung, and vibrant batiks. These snapshots from everyday life reflect the intertwined generations and generosity of Javanese people. The series reveals the complex customs, aesthetic philosophy, and unique lifestyle—embracing gamelan sessions, poetry slams, beach days, and late-night lesehan gatherings. These images aim to encapsulate Yogyakarta's soul: a blend of diverse lives, cultural richness, and unwavering spirit.
